Born in Chicago and raised in Tucson, I've always been an East Coast girl at heart. Living here is expensive so I've found ways to make my college (lack of income), followed by non-profit income, followed by fellowship income stretch.
Frugality is not about deprivation. It is about delayed gratification so that you can always afford the big things that matter the most. Plus, saving money can be fun...so when you make out like a bandit, feel free to share your story with my fun and frugal followers!

Question: Sarah Asks: What are you doing with all your savings?!
Stephanie Answers: My husband and I put a large amount of our earnings into retirement and a lot more into paying down some of our debt. That said, we still spend and enjoy ourselves but remember that a dollar saved now compounded later is much more valuable!
Question: Merrill Asks: I HATE giving my credit cd number of the web. But the college thing does sound interesting. I am running out of time!
Stephanie Answers: The great thing about UPromise is that you do not need to give your credit card number to get rewards. It helps of course but you can always just give them your reward card numbers (ie your CVS card, Safeway Card, etc) which will track what products you buy and give you a percentage back for certain products.
